Project Ekta
Phase II of The Deepam Initiative began in 2016, with a project to further benefit Kaiwara and its people. The Kaiwara Ashram, built in memory of the saint who gives the town its historical significance, is heavily involved in social upliftment. The Ashram has a community hall and runs a community kitchen that feeds those who knock on its doors, all year round. Phase II focused on providing electricity to and illuminating the community hall. Solar panels, installed on the roof, that were connected to a battery bank provided a constant supply of light 24/7. To illuminate the outdoor areas of the Ashram, floodlights that also operate on solar power were installed.
