Project Patrika
Notebooks are a commonplace commodity that is easily accessible for the urban population. However, they are equally as difficult to come by for economically disadvantaged, rural population. Over 950 children in anganwadis, kindergarten, school and PU College students are enrolled in government-run or government aided educational institutions. The Deepam Initiative’s Project Patrika distributed sets of seven notebooks to each student in the Chintamani Education Block, resulting in a total distribution of over 8,000 books. The Block Education Officer oversaw the distribution, and facilitated discussions by providing valuable insight into difficulties students enrolled in government-run or government aided schools face.
