Deepam Corona Virus Relief Program
In a time where the world is facing several unprecedented situations as a result of a pandemic, Deepam’s mission is to help those who are in vulnerable groups of the population. COVID-19 has put several families out of jobs, and has created a shortage in resources that have been rendered inaccessible to these vulnerable populations. It is essential that now, more than ever, that we contribute to helping the community wherever possible. Deepam created multiple initiatives in attempt to provide aid and relief to frontline and essential workers.
Phase 1 – over 2 tons of packaged essentials were distributed to Asha workers and migrant laborers across the Chintamani district
Phase 2 – the Chintamani police department were provided with enough supplies to last them through the duration of the lockdown
Phase 3 – in partnership with the Kaiwara trust, frontline workers were provided daily meals
Phase 4 – over 1,700 face shields were donated to bus conductors and drivers working for the BMTC as a way to help restrict the virus’ transmission rate
Phase 5 – the 300 police personnel in the Chintamani district were provided with face shields
